Theme based coloring activities represent one of the greatest things we can do as young kids.... Kids crafts are fun too.

The ability to express yourself freely, to be creative, and have tons of fun doing it.

What are theme based coloring-activities ?

Coloring activities are where children express a particular theme, by means of a coloring sheet, or blank paper and adequate coloring materials.

Let's use holiday and international themes as an example.

Various holiday and international themes include (but are not limited to)

• New Years Day
• Martin Luther King's Day
• Presidents Day
• Independence Day
• Columbus Day
• Veterans Day
• Thanksgiving Day
• Christmas Day

As a parent and educator you likely use these holiday and international themes in conjunction with Coloring-Activities to stimulate your child's creative abilities. A little coaching and maybe some tutoring can really turn these kinds of activities into strong learning opportunities.

Once you have chosen a particular theme (lets use Thanksgiving Day as an example) discuss it with your child/students. Then have them express their thoughts on that theme through coloring sheets.

The key here is to have [them] express their thoughts.

In the case of Thanksgiving...it may not be enough to photo copy a few "Thanksgiving" coloring sheets, and just place it before them with a bunch of kids crayons(and hope they stay within the lines).

Instead, encourage them to express their thoughts on "Thanksgiving" based information you hopefully just told them.
